Camp Albuquerque Day Five

Today, I successfully made a sunny side up egg for Rowans breakfast. The key, it seems, is the use of liberal amounts of butter. Ro talked with her mommy for a while this morning while taming the rats nest otherwise known as her hair...

Off we went to meet Hondo for lunch at Dions Pizza... not the best pizza, but Rowan enjoyed making fun of the names called overhead (someone was a little too close to the microphone)! Next we went to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
They have a children's house where everything is hands on! Rowan had a blast trying on the clothing. Initially auntie dressed her up as a male (unkowingly of course). The dosent came over and dressed Rowan correctly leaving the dress open to the left side to allow the spirits access to her heart. Rowan ground corn with a mano (a rock that goes in your hand) and a metate (the flat pestal thing), thought of mawmaw when she saw the herbs used for dying wool and the replica of a sash making loom, and pertended to carry berries in old bison horns... Although she had lots of fun, she was ultimately dissappointed that there were no "Indian baby dolls" in the gift shop. There was one young Indian lady with a leather outfit (not dressed like a Pueblo indian) who she liked, but I guess I just have too much Threlkeld in me to spend 60 bucks on a doll made in Missouri by a non-native!! The search continues!!

We came home and worked on some art then played with the dawgs after hondo got home. Rowan figured out how to trick Bradley (the Oh so smart dog ;) ... BTW Bradley LOVES having a little girl in the house. Hondo is still his favorite, but I have been bumped down to third on the list of favorite humans.... Anyways, so rowan got a bouncy rubber ball and was trying to keep it away from Bradley. Bradley has leared to bark indoors (a new trick only related to little girls). So ro took the ball over to the coffee table and began bouncing then catching it off the table. Bradley would watch the ball carefully go up and then follow the ball (magically) through the table... when he realized that it didn't bounce off the floor then he would bark (loudly) at his little girl, just in time to watch the ball bounce up again... this went on for several minutes before Bradley realized that the ball was bouncing off the table and not going all the way to the floor, at this point he just jumped up onto the coffee table (with all four legs). Hondo and I were laughing so hard that I almost peed my pants!! tee hee

We decided to go look at comic books. So, Hondo has re-connected with his youth obsession of comics and purchased WAY too many books... and Rowan got 2 story lines. One from xmen and another i am not familiar with. Hondo screened the comics for too much violence (in other words, "its not my fault.")... we went to eat at Taco Cabana (a kitchy mexican fast food place) and rowan enjoyed a cheeze quesadilla and beans. Yum. The rest of the evening was spent in silence (is that good?) while the geek and his new convert enjoyed comics...it was even hard to get Ro out of the car because of the comics...
