This is a NORMAL uterus (from some medical website). It is NOT my uterus! You can see a small depression at the top that goes into the fallopian tube. The RE said that the top of my uterus looked good and she could see both of the openings, but....
Here is what the bottom of MY uterus looks like (the camera is entering from the cervix). She said it was like a "vail" of scar tissue. She removed "A LOT" of scar tissue.
Here is the uterus all cleaned up? Not very good pictures - I guess I would rather have a good surgeon than someone who can make good pictures of my insides! The RE said that there is no more scar tissue currently. I am on estrogen for another 6 weeks (to allow the uterus time to heal without cycling), then progesterone for 10 days (to start the cycle again)... I wait 2 more menstrual cycles, then have another hysterosonogram to make sure the uterine cavity opens properly... If all is well, we will then get to try again for baby. This pushes my imaginary time-line into 2010 for welcoming a baby into our home, but I am trying to be patient....So, here is a re-cap for anyone who doesn't want to decipher the myriad of emotional posts:
10/19/07 - Delivered stillborn twins, but placenta wouldn't come willingly - D&C
11/07 - Developed infection from retained placenta (THIS IS WHERE THE SCAR TISSUE FORMED) - 2nd D&C
4/08 - Miscarriage without surgical intervention (the scar tissue would not allow Baby 'Roo to grow)
6/08 - 3rd D&C because of continued HCG (retained placenta hiding behind scar tissue)
8/08 - continued HCG - Hysteroscopy & 4th D&C (inital scar tissue resection and removal of retained placenta)
10/08 - Hysterosonogram showed continued problems with uterine cavity
12/08 - Hysteroscopy with scar tissue removal... HOPEFULLY the last time - FOREVER!!
It's not the "Why" that I need the answer, but the "How" that I search for in order to heal.
